This is the last post of my Mother’s Day series. Today we will look at Mary again and what kind of mother she was.
The more I read about Mary, the more I realized how supportive she was of her son. Our children need and deserve our unconditional love and support. Mary supported Jesus in all aspects of His life, even when it brought great pain. She knew the choices He was making were likely to get Him killed and she loved Him through it. She of course, had great stress and concern for Him and His life, yet her faith was strong and she faithfully relied on God.
Mary was a Godly mother, I’m not sure I was always that way, even though I hoped and tried to be. As our children grow into adults, we too, do not always like or agree with the choices our children make. We disagree. We second guess their choices and worry if we think they’re making the wrong choice. We oftentimes want to protect them. But the truth is, we can’t.
God gave each of us free will, we can make our own choices. As our children become adults there are times we must sit back and support them even when it makes our hearts ache. It’s not easy to do! We want to give them our two cents worth but instead what we need to do is pray. We need to sit back and let God handle whatever the situation is. We will have faith and trust that He will see them through.
Hebrews 11:6 says “But without faith it is impossible to please him, for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him”. This kind of faith is what gives strength to our children.
As a parent, pray, seek Him, trust Him that He loves your child even more than you do!
